I just ran across a really interesting article by George Collins where he argues against Dr. David Ley discusses what he calls “the myth of sex addiction”

I totally agree with Mr. Colllins. As a grateful recovering sex addict who truly understands the addiction…it’s no myth.

I was fortunate to attend a presentation by Mr. Collins at the recent SASH (Society for the advancement of Sexual Health) in September of 2012. He was right on target about helping those recovery from the disease of sex addiction.

If more professionals and more sex addicts would share and comment on these myths, they they would in fact become myths as the public learns what a powerful disease sex addiction is…If as Dr. Patrick Carnes says “No disease entity got what it needed until those with the problem articulated what it was like to be in their skin”

Step 2 in the 12 step program of recovery states: Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Would a sane person ruin their life, would they ruin their job, career, reputation, health, risk disease, jail, or death? Well, of course not. Well a sex addict will do any and all of those and it’s not by choice. Sex addicts struggle with a disease that’s becoming an epidemic. Thank you George. .
